It's finished!

well sort of finished.... the builder has finished, now we have all the things that make a house a home left to do ourselves. We had our key handover last week.... we didn't get too excited leading up to the appointment, just in case the money hadn't cleared from the bank and we got disappointed, but luckily it cleared that morning!! But we were very happy after we had the shiny keys in our hands :) Now we just want to move in but have lots of work to do first!

Finally the spring sunshine has appeared and the render has been painted, after worrying about the feature colour being too light, I actually quite like it! The lighter white colour is probably too white for what I had planned!! But will wait and see what it looks like once the gardens are done and reassess.

It's nearly finished!!

sooooooo exciting.... we get the keys next week!! After all this waiting, the finish line has crept up on us before we knew it.
The garage door has been installed and the gutters and downpipes painted. Just waiting for one day of sunshine to get the render painted.

Thought I would post some nicer pics of the kitchen benchtop all nice and shiny minus the blue plastic! As you can also see the window screens are all on. The inside is all complete, just need all the painting done outside - render, gutters, downpipes etc and the garage door needs to go on. We have our final inspection this week, and should have the keys within 2 weeks after that!!!

It won't be long now! We are very excited, but starting to get a bit stressed as we arrange all the things we need to do once we have the keys, such as painting, flooring, window coverings, garden, fencing, air conditioning etc etc, the list goes on!!!!

Loads of exciting pictures this week! The tiling has been done in the bathrooms, laundry & kitchen splashback, and will be grouted this week. Also, much to our surprise the driveway paving has been done, we just need to organise for the crossover to be done. We are really pleased with the tiles, they look great, can't wait to see it grouted and finished! The sleepless nights wondering if the colour choices will look ok are all over!

Kitchen splashback, these tiles were Shane's choice and they annoyed the tiler to no end! They were apparantly difficult to cut and he ended up being just one short! But they look great, so well done to Shane for a good choice!

A post for Mum & Dad

No exciting pictures this week, but don't fear, work is still being done!
The wardrobe shelves went in this week & Brad came and bricked up the bath and shower hobs. The tiles arrived and we had a meeting with our site supervisor. He says that all going well we should have the keys in our hot little hands 8 weeks from now. So Mum & Dad, sorry to tell you, but 8 weeks from now is beginning October-ish..... so you best be bringing some paintbrushes back in those suitcases of yours :)
So Big Brother Brad, the bestest tiler ever came to start some work.... and he liked all our tile choices! Thank god! After much worrying over my colour choices it was nice to have a professional think we had made good choices!

A sigh of relief....

The kitchen, bathroom & laundry cabinets & benchtops are all in!! I got the shock of my life when I went there today after work. It is moving along so fast. I was beside myself with excitement when I saw the new kitchen.

And a HUGE sigh of relief seeing all our colour choices put together. It was a stressful time choosing all the colours and hoping that they would look good when all put together in the big picture. But I LOVE IT!! Still curious about the final product of the bathrooms when the tiles go down though!

Locked up!!

The house is locked up!!
Unfortunately this means no access for us inside, so the next few weeks of pics will be through windows, but that's ok, because it means it's getting closer to finishing!!!

The windows have been installed and all of the ceilings done. Our site supervisor tells us the doors will arrive on Wednesday and be locked up!! Brad will be coming in to do the tiling in approx 3-4 weeks, and then it should be about 4-6 weeks after that and it will be finished!!!
